Mike Woolston

Biography

Michael Woolston is a senior consultant in Frontier Economics’ water practice in Australia. With around 30 years’ experience in the water sector, Michael has led a number of major policy studies in areas including water pricing, institutional and regulatory arrangements in the sector, water entitlements and markets, and resource management issues. He has advised key Commonwealth Government bodies along with State and Local Governments, water businesses and regulators. Providing strategic advice to policymakers, regulators and regulated water utilities in the development and implementation of economic regulatory regimes.

Michael’s comprehensive knowledge of the water industry, and his participation in many areas of water policy reform across several jurisdictions, means he is an invaluable resource for many clients. His breadth of knowledge across state and federal water sectors ensures his approach in policy development or reform is practical, and able to factor in lessons from previous experience.

Prior to joining Frontier Economics, Michael was Assistant Director of Utility Regulation and Projects, and Senior Economist, of the Water Reform Unit in the Victorian Department of Treasury and Finance.
