James Key

Biography

James is an economist at Frontier Economics specialising in network industries and the application of econometrics. He applies economic theory and quantitative techniques to analyse policy issues including:

  • The application of economic regulation to businesses
  • Anti-competitive conduct investigations and merger assessment, and
  • Harm or damages valuation

He has almost 10 years of experience as a professional economist. Prior to this was an assistant professor at the UWA business school.

Economic regulation

Economic regulation in economics commonly addresses the scope and means of service provision under substantial market power. James regularly advises corporations and regulators on key aspects of economic regulation, including estimation of the cost of capital, the application of building block models, pricing models, and benchmarking of expenditure. He has advised on more than 100 projects covering economic regulation, including the following sectors:

Merger and competition assessment

James regularly advises corporations, legal teams and financial parties on the anti-competitive consequences of mergers, particularly in telecommunications and retail sectors.
