Information for students
Start your career in economic consulting with a paid internship in our Sydney office. Here’s how our internships work and which courses to take.

Paid internships in our Sydney office
Interns work alongside experienced consultants on real client projects in energy, climate change, telecommunications, transport, water, natural resources and financial services. Internships run for 3–4 weeks in the summer (December–January) and winter (June–July) university holidays.
What interns do
- Work in small project teams in one of our sectors
- Solve complex problems with data, small or big
- Research the issues and economic challenges our clients face
- Write up findings in reports and presentations
What to study
Below are the economics courses offered at selected Australian universities that, in our experience, provides a strong foundation for graduate and internship roles at Frontier Economics.
The recommended courses are organised by year level. Students are encouraged to complete as many of these courses as their workload, timetable and capabilities allow, and also subject to meeting course prerequisites.
It is essential that potential applicants check with their university course listings as course availability, prerequisites and recommended sequencing may vary over time. This list will therefore be reviewed and updated periodically.
