We’re excited to be working with Water Sensitive Cities in improving our understanding of the challenges around funding climate related investments in the water sector in Greater Melbourne.

Consultation with stakeholders is an important part of the process, and last week’s session with the Victorian water sector was an invaluable experience.

Thank you to Water Sensitive Cities for coordinating, and to all those who participated.

The image is a screen capture of a LinkedIn Post by Water Sensitive Cities. It says: Responding to climate and growth-related challenges is not new for the urban water sector. But, the pace, uncertainty and potential magnitude of changes requires a focus on system resilience. We’re working with Frontier Economics (Asia-Pacific) to develop a high-level action plan that helps water utilities better manage climate-related risks that affect service delivery. At a workshop yesterday, we brought together Victorian stakeholders to explore some key questions: · What is ‘climate-resilient’ infrastructure? · What are the main climate risks in the water service value chain? · How can we best fund climate-resilience initiatives? · What actions can we take to address any vulnerabilities? These ideas and insights will guide the action plan. Our thanks to participants for so generously sharing their knowledge, experience and time.
