The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has allowed subscription TV provider Foxtel to acquire another provider of subscription TV services, Austar. The ACCC sought to ensure that certain content was available to current and future competitors, including for the provision of internet TV services and movies delivered on a transactional video on demand basis. This means that providers of TV services are able to deliver television programs and movie content across a range of devices now and as telecommunications networks develop.
Frontier (Australia) advised Foxtel during this acquisition.
