Hugh is an economist focusing on agricultural resource economics, rural water and sustainability sectors.
Prior to joining Frontier Economics, Hugh worked as an agronomist for a private consultancy agronomy firm which spanned the irrigated cotton valleys of western New South Wales (NSW), and as a junior farm manager in the northwest NSW.
Hugh graduated from the University of New England with a Bachelor of Agriculture and Resource Economics (Honours). His Honours thesis investigated the economic viability of carbon reduction in irrigated cotton farms in northern NSW, by comparing different methods such as enhanced efficiency fertilisers, and analysing these benefits through a whole farm budget analysis and a sensitivity and stochastic analysis.
